The psalmist wrote this: By day the Lord commands his steadfast love, and at night his song is with me, a prayer to the God of my life (Psalm 42:8)
Yet he struggled with despair: I say to God, my rock: “Why have you forgotten me (Psalm 42:9)?”
Even those who know God’s love need encouragement to pray with hope.
