Want to glimpse God’s greatness? Consider the discipline of the Lord your God, his greatness, his mighty hand and his outstretched arm (Deuteronomy 11:2-3).
God’s greatness is seen when he disciplines with a mighty hand, then stretches out his arm to restore.
God’s greatness means he is actively involved in our lives, not only when we pray but also when we stray.
I read Job 38-40 as though God were speaking to me. I was silenced and overwhelmed by God’s greatness.
Here’s some of what God asked:
Where you there when I laid the foundations of the earth (Job 38:4)?
Have you ever commanded the morning to appear (Job 38:12)?
Do you know where the gates of death are located (Job 38:17)?
Are you as strong as God (Job 40:9)?
What is your response?
“O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth” (Psalm 8:1).
No matter how hard we try, words cannot accurately describe God. His awe-inspiring grandeur, magnificent might and impressive beauty are worthy of our highest praise.
Remember that when you pray.
