Psalm 100 is a Psalm for giving thanks.
It says: Make a joyful noise to the Lord. Serve him with gladness. Come into his presence with singing (from Psalm 100:1-2 bold mine).
Thankful prayers are joyful.

The heading over Luke 8 jumped out at me: Women Accompanying Jesus.* I stopped to think. I pray as though Jesus were coming along with me.
But as He goes proclaiming and bringing the good news (Luke 8:1), I am following Him.
This perspective changes my prayers.

I urge that entreaties be made on behalf of all men (from 1 Timothy 2:1).
This kind of prayer arises from the sense of need. Knowing what is lacking, we plead with God to supply it.
As we look our on the masses of lost humanity, the enormity of their need should drive us to our knees.*

When we pray, we throw our burdens to the Lord and He takes them. He provides, supports and encourages us.
We do so little. The Lord does so much.
Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you (Psalm 55:22).
